Giving Voice to Gratitude
From Series: "Thankful"
More From "Thankful"
Long before the sun rose and the town stirred and a little boy left home with a lunch of five loaves and two fish, God set the stage for a miracle. When the time was right, Jesus invited others to partner with Him by asking a simple question. “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?”
While the disciples were considering their options, Jesus patiently waited to do what He had planned to do all along—abundantly provide so that everyone enjoyed as much as they wanted with basketfuls of leftovers.
Throughout Scripture, we are taught the Law of Sowing and Reaping. At harvest time, you will get back above and beyond what you’ve put in, but of the same crop. In order to reap, you must first plant. Seeds of giving and serving will come back to you in ways you can’t imagine in God’s economy. As Pastor Ken reminded us, “If you don’t give, you don’t understand how much you’ve been forgiven. It all comes back to a heart of gratefulness for what God has already done, not a focus on what you want Him to do. A change of perspective can turn your little into much.
Additionally, generosity will result in thankfulness to God. We serve a God of abundance. Not just in material wealth, though many of us enjoy wealth, but abundance in joy and peace and other riches of the heart. Thank Him for your ability to give and watch Him multiply your gift for Kingdom purposes. You will be amazed and He will be glorified.
